Samsung Confirms RAM Shortage Contributes to Galaxy S26 Price Increase

Samsung has acknowledged that rising RAM costs and other material expenses are driving up the prices of the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus. The new models are priced $100 higher than their predecessors.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus have been described as offering similar features to earlier models but at a higher cost. According to a report by The Verge, Samsung's COO of mobile business, Won-Joon Choi, has confirmed that a shortage of RAM is a key factor in the price increase.
Impact of Material Costs
Choi stated that the memory shortage has made a "significant contribution" to the overall pricing of the Galaxy S26 series. Alongside the RAM issue, other escalating material costs have also played a role in the decision to raise prices by $100 compared to the previous generation of devices.
The confirmation from Samsung aligns with earlier reports suggesting that consumers could expect to pay more for the latest models due to these ongoing supply chain challenges. As a result, potential buyers may need to consider the increased investment required for the new Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus.
