Meta Plans to Launch Smartwatch with AI and Health Features in 2026

Meta is set to introduce its first smartwatch later this year, featuring health tracking capabilities and an integrated Meta AI assistant. The device, known as Malibu 2, may also coincide with updates to Ray-Ban smart glasses.

Meta is reportedly gearing up to launch its inaugural smartwatch, focusing on health monitoring and incorporating a built-in Meta AI assistant. According to a report by NDTV Tech (Gadgets 360), this device, which has been given the code name Malibu 2, is expected to be unveiled alongside refreshed Ray-Ban Display smart glasses.

Features and Development

The new smartwatch may potentially replace the neural wristband that was previously used for gesture controls. This initiative marks a revival of Meta's smartwatch project, which had been put on hold in 2022. The report indicates that the company is making strides to re-enter the wearable technology market with this new offering.

In addition to the smartwatch, Meta has also postponed the launch of its Phoenix mixed-reality glasses, which are now slated for release in 2027. This delay comes as the company reassesses its broader augmented reality strategy.

Meta's focus on health tracking and AI integration in its smartwatch aligns with current trends in wearable technology, as companies increasingly look to provide users with comprehensive health insights and smart assistance.
